You want your flyer to stand out from the rest, but how do you make it jump off the wall to catch the attention of passers by? Here, we’ve got a great list of tips for designing a stellar event flyer. From printing in large format to simple design tips we’ve got a great list of ideas that will warrant a double take every time:
Check out the competition
Before you even start thinking about the design of your flyer printing, take a walk to all of the major places you are thinking of putting your flyer up. What are the existing flyers like? What makes one of them stand out from the rest? This is a great way to find out what you like, what you think works and begin brain storming for your own design.
Size does matter
Size really does matter. If you want your flyer to stand out from the rest, you should print it in the largest format possible, to the point where it is still considered a flyer. If your flyer is too small, people may skip over it, or have problems reading the font from a reasonable distance.
Using coloured paper
Everyone seems to go with safe old white or a number of different pastel shades. While these are ok, they aren’t going to stand out amongst flyers that are printed of fluro pink. Choose brightly coloured paper to print on whilst still remembering that you want people to be able to read the event details so make sure your text colour works well with the colour of the paper you choose.
Font choice
Common sense tells you that wing dings are out of the question, but there are a few other fonts you are considering. Always remember, keeping it simple, in bold so it’s easy to read from a distance is always the right choice. It may not look at fancy as the other fonts, but the main aim of your flyer is to communicate the details of your event.
Images
Having an image on your flyer that really grabs your attention is a great idea and something that all flyers should have, no matter what the audience. Great images entice people to have a closer look.
Cut the noise
Make sure that the main points you want to communicate are on the flyer and not much else. If its too cluttered it will be too hard to read. Simple and eye-catching is best.
Choosing a printing business
The printing services business you choose to go with can have a major impact on the look and style of your flyer. If you are getting some assistance with the design this is particularly true. Shop around and find a company that you are happy with, which should ultimately result in a great looking flyer.
Designing an event flyer is easy if you take into consideration a few important tips and the suggestions we’ve listed above. If you do this you’ll find that your flyer not only looks great, but your event will be a complete success too!
